Your business name

Equine activity waiver and release

This waiver applies to riding, lessons, trail rides, grooming and any time spent around horses at [Your business].

Horses

  • Horses are large animals that can act unpredictably. They can kick, bite, buck, bolt or fall, even when well trained.
  • I will wear an approved riding helmet and suitable boots while riding.
  • I will follow the directions of staff and stay with my group on trail rides.
  • I have told staff my real weight and riding experience so they can choose a suitable horse.

Assumption of risk

I understand that horseback riding and equine activities involves risks, including the risk of serious injury, permanent disability and death, and damage to or loss of property. I choose to take part voluntarily and I accept these risks, whether they are known or unknown.

Release of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, I release, waive and discharge [Your business], its owners, employees, instructors, contractors and agents (together, "the Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands or causes of action arising from my participation, including those caused by the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties.

Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any loss, liability, damage or cost, including legal fees, that arises from my participation or my conduct.

Medical treatment

I confirm that I am in good health and have no condition that makes it unsafe for me to take part. If I am injured or become ill, I authorize [Your business] to arrange first aid or emergency medical treatment, and I agree to pay any costs.

Photos

I agree that [Your business] may take photos or video during activities and use them to promote its services, unless I tell staff that I do not agree.

General

This agreement is governed by the laws of the place where [Your business] operates. If any part of it is found to be invalid, the rest stays in force. I have read this agreement, I understand it, and I am signing it voluntarily. I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights by signing.

Equine activity

Many places have equine activity laws that limit the liability of stables for the inherent risks of horses. I understand that such a law may apply to my activities with [Your business].

Minors

If I am signing for a child under 18, I confirm that I am their parent or legal guardian, that I agree to these terms on their behalf and on my own, and that I have explained the rules and risks to them.

The signer ticks each of these

  • I understand that horses can act unpredictably, even when well trained.
  • I will wear a helmet while riding.
